United Way of the Midlands Awards $ 100,000 to Nebraska Children’s Home Society Grant to Fund Pathways to the Future

OMAHA, Neb. (August 3, 2015) Nebraska Children’s Home Society is pleased to announce it was recently awarded a $100,000 grant from United Way of the Midlands. Thanks to the generosity of the United Way donors,  NCHS will expand Pathways to the Future.

Pathways to the Future is a plan for intensive personalized one-on-one support using Self-Sufficiency Specialists to provide care coordination for full case management services to clients who access NCHS’s Children & Family Center services. The Children & Family Center utilizes a holistic integrated approach to service delivery. Over the past six years of providing services, staff have found that many clients are unable to focus on home visitation, educational or support services goals when they are struggling to meet their daily needs.  

NCHS Self-Sufficiency Specialists, experts in community services, will connect clients to resources and assist them with housing, budgeting, educational and professional attainment. Services are tailored to best meet the needs of individuals, parents and children including assisting families in meeting their basic crisis needs (food, shelter, and safety) while teaching, supporting, and empowering them emotionally so they have the tools to achieve their goals.

With the help of this grant, NCHS will grow their ability to work proactively with clients to address crisis needs up front, thereby, allowing clients to focus on parenting, personal growth and workforce readiness. “United Way’s support for this program is greatly appreciated by NCHS, and many lives will change in a positive way, thanks to all who made a contribution,” said Karen Authier, CEO of Nebraska Children’s Home Society.
