Senator Watermeier receives the Harris Van Oort Friends of Children Award

OMAHA, Neb. (June 23, 2016) Former Nebraska Children’s Home Society Executive Director Harris Van Oort presented Senator Dan Watermeier with the Harris Van Oort Friends of Children Award on Thursday, June 23, 2016, during the Annual Meeting of Trustees at the Nebraska Children’s Home Society. The Harris Van Oort “Friends of Children” Award was established by the NCHS Board in 1998 to recognize recipients for their leadership on behalf of children in keeping with the mission and values of NCHS.
Senator Watermeier introduced and shepherded LB 744 to passage. NCHS is grateful for his tireless advocacy on behalf of open adoption, which now has a legal foundation with the passage of LB 744.
