NEBRASKA CHILDREN’S HOME SOCIETY’S FOSTER CARE ADOPTIVE FAMILIES ARE AVAILABLE FOR INTERVIEW TOMORROW ON NATIONAL ADOPTION DAY NCHS is the only agency in the U.S. that for more than 120 years has not
NEBRASKA (November 22, 2013) Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013 is National Adoption Day. Many older children remain in foster care awaiting their forever family. Often these children have spent a great deal of time in foster care and long for a permanent home to call their own. At Nebraska Children’s Home Society (NCHS), we work to match children needing permanency with families that are willing and able to make a child a forever part of their family. On National Adoption Day, Saturday, November 23, 2013, four children in foster care will be adopted by NCHS families at the Douglas County Courthouse, beginning at 8:00am. To interview NCHS Director of Foster Care Michelle Moline or the families’ adopting, please contact Michelle Moline at (402) 953-6849 (cell). During November, NCHS recognizes adoptive families, children waiting to be adopted, children who were adopted, and the women and men who have the courage to place their children for adoption.
For those facing unplanned pregnancy, NCHS offers assistance with obtaining prenatal care, exploring the options of parenting and adoption, teen parenting assistance to continue their education, and parenting classes. NCHS recruits, trains and supports foster families in our community. Nebraska Children’s Home Society asks the community to help in our endeavor to raise adoption awareness and dispel myths regarding adoption within the community. NCHS adoption facts:
Last year NCHS facilitated 29 foster care adoptions and 33 infant adoptions. Since 1995, NCHS has handled more than 1,000 adoptions. While the average cost for adoption can range from $15,000 to $40,000 or even more, NCHS charges no fees. Throughout its history the agency has relied on support from individuals, corporations and foundations committed to the welfare of children. The majority of NCHS services are privately funded. Every program is subsidized with private donor dollars. NCHS trains and educates prospective adoptive and foster families. NCHS is the only agency in the United States that for more than 120 years has not charged fees for its adoption services.
