OMAHA, Neb. (July 25, 2016) Nebraska Children’s Home Society is pleased to announce it was recently awarded a $108,700 grant from United Way of the Midlands. Thanks to the generosity of the United Way donors, NCHS will expand Pathways to the Future and Raising Your Grandchildren programming.
Pathways to the Future empowers and educates families and helps them to eliminate barriers to success (academic, career, parenting). The primary goal is to improve the capacity of children to lead productive and fulfilling lives by educating, strengthening and supporting families through neighborhood-based services.
Funding will enhance Pathways to the Future, building capacity to provide full case management impact services to families in need who are accessing existing family support, early childhood education and educational services, as well as evaluating long term impact on child well being and family stability.
The NCHS Raising Your Grandchildren program provides a safe environment with opportunities for emotional expression, support and referrals when needed; providing educational classes and intensive support for grandparents ensuring they are equipped with the capacity and knowledge to take on their role as primary caregiver of their grandchildren, including the challenges that role brings.
“United Way’s support for our programming is greatly appreciated by NCHS, and many lives will change in a positive way, thanks to all who made a contribution,” said Karen Authier, CEO of Nebraska Children’s Home Society.
